Privacy Policy
1. Scope and Who We Are
This Privacy Policy explains how Riikee ("Riikee," "we," "us," or "our") collects, uses, stores, shares, and protects personal information when you use riikee.com, app.riikee.com, the Riikee Chrome Extension, and related writing, AI, reminder, subscription, support, and analytics services (the "Service").

3. Information We Collect
The information we collect depends on how you use Riikee.
- Account data: email address, display name, avatar, authentication identifiers, password credentials managed by our authentication provider, and connected-account information
- Writing data: titles, article text, dates, word and paragraph counts, draft and Catch Up status, revision timestamps, deleted status, and export requests
- Clip data: text you deliberately save from a webpage or a Riikee practice, the source page title and URL, the related Riikee practice when applicable, save and insertion timestamps, and references showing where a Clip has been inserted
- Writing image data: image files you upload or choose to save to Riikee; asset and storage identifiers; original filename; MIME type; dimensions; stored byte size; upload status and timestamps; and references between an image and a practice. Supported local images are re-encoded before upload to normalize orientation, reduce file size, and remove embedded metadata such as EXIF. Riikee does not intentionally retain the original local file after this processing
- Habit and preference data: daily goals, streaks, historical daily activity and credits, time zone, language, themes, editor settings, reminder schedules, weekend preferences, and communication choices
- Writing Session data: linked practice, automatic or Focus mode, local activity date, start, end, and last-activity times, active, elapsed, paused, and planned duration, starting and ending word counts, retained words written, deleted words, net word changes, checkpoint and calculation metadata, status, ending reason, time zone, and whether browser fullscreen was requested
- Achievement data: achievement or badge identifiers, progress and metric values, unlock times, progress snapshots, and personal records calculated from eligible writing and session data
- Writing rhythm and guidance data: derived writing state, recent activity signals, reminder or recall status, deliberate-break availability and end date, 14-day guide track, current step, completion dates, selected future cadence, and session-linked guide progress
- AI data: the instructions and relevant text submitted to an AI feature, generated responses, action type, model, token and request usage, status and error information, AI preferences, and stored article-analysis results such as summaries, keywords, themes, genre, mood, emotional brightness and energy, language, confidence, and representative writing references used in Writing Portrait
- Subscription data: plan, subscription and customer identifiers, billing status, renewal and expiration information; payment card details are handled by Stripe and are not stored by Riikee
- Technical and usage data: IP address, browser and device information, timestamps, page and feature events, cookie or local-storage identifiers, diagnostics, security records, and server logs
- Support data: messages, bug reports, attachments, and other information you choose to send us
4. Data Stored on Your Device
Riikee uses browser storage for guest drafts, local recovery copies, cached writing lists, language, time zone, editor appearance, onboarding progress, streak celebrations, dismissed prompts, authentication state, and analytics consent.
A guest draft normally remains on the device and browser where it was written unless you sign in and complete a supported save flow. You can remove local data through browser controls, but doing so may permanently erase unsynced guest writing and recovery copies.
5. Riikee Chrome Extension
The Riikee Chrome Extension helps you save selected webpage text to Riikee Clips, continue writing from a selection, open your Riikee Library and Writing Journey, and view your current week’s writing progress.
When you explicitly choose a Riikee action for selected text, the extension sends the selected text, the page title, and the source URL to app.riikee.com, then uses your chosen action to save the Clip or open a Riikee writing page. The extension does not monitor your browsing history, read pages in the background, or collect page content that you have not selected for a Riikee action.
When you open the extension, it uses your existing Riikee browser session to check whether you are signed in and, when connected, to request your weekly writing progress. The extension does not ask for or store your Riikee password. It may store a flag indicating that a Riikee session previously existed and the version of any extension privacy notice you accepted.
If you choose a Clip action while signed out, the extension may keep the selected text, page title, source URL, chosen action, and creation time in Chrome local storage for up to 24 hours so it can complete the action after you sign in. This pending Clip is removed after a successful save or when it expires. You can also remove it by clearing the extension’s data or uninstalling the extension.
6. How We Use Information
- Create, authenticate, secure, and support your account
- Save, sync, display, search, export, and recover your writing and the private images stored with it
- Compress and validate image uploads, enforce plan-based file and storage limits, show storage use, deliver private images to the authenticated account, and remove incomplete or unreferenced uploads
- Calculate daily progress, streaks, Writing Sessions, achievements, badges, personal records, Library views, Writing Journey, and other writing insights
- Provide AI features, store article analysis when enabled, and create time-based Writing Portrait summaries from analyzed practices
- Enforce plan limits, AI allowances, Catch Up eligibility, and subscription access
- Schedule first, second, and weekend writing reminders in your language and time zone
- Adapt writing guidance to your recent rhythm, honor deliberate breaks, decide when optional return prompts are appropriate, and operate the 14-day writing guide
- Process payments, prevent fraud, and maintain billing records
- Diagnose errors, protect the Service, understand feature use, and improve Riikee
- Respond to support requests and send essential account, security, billing, and service communications
- Send optional product updates or writing reminders when you have enabled them
- Comply with law and enforce our Terms
7. Legal Bases
Where data-protection law requires a legal basis, we rely on one or more of the following: performing our contract with you; your consent; our legitimate interests in operating, securing, and improving Riikee; and compliance with legal obligations. You may withdraw consent for optional processing, such as analytics or reminders, without affecting earlier lawful processing.
8. AI Processing and Article Analysis
When you deliberately use an AI writing tool, Riikee sends the instructions and the portion of your writing needed for that task to our server and an AI provider. Depending on the feature, that may be selected text, nearby context, a topic, title, or the current article.
If automatic article analysis is enabled, an eligible saved article may be analyzed after writing activity. Riikee stores structured results—such as a summary, keywords, themes, genre, tone, mood, emotional brightness and energy, language, and confidence—so they can appear in Information and Library. Writing Journey → Portrait may aggregate those results across a selected period to show recurring patterns and representative practices. You can turn automatic analysis off in Settings. Turning it off stops new automatic analysis but does not automatically erase results already created.
Article analysis and Writing Portrait describe patterns in the text Riikee has analyzed. They are not designed to infer your identity, diagnose a condition, assess your mental health, or provide medical or psychological advice. AI results can be incomplete or incorrect.
Riikee currently uses DeepSeek as its primary model provider and may use OpenAI through Vercel AI Gateway as a fallback. Providers and models may change. Riikee records operational metadata such as feature type, model, request status, and token usage. Ordinary AI prompts and responses are not intentionally retained by Riikee after the request except where you insert output into a practice, submit it to support, or it forms part of stored article analysis.
9. Cookies, Local Storage, and Analytics
We use essential cookies and local storage to keep you signed in, remember settings, protect accounts, save local drafts, and operate the Service. These are necessary for requested functionality.
With consent where required, our website or app may use Google Analytics and Google Ads measurement to understand visits, sign-ups, feature use, conversions, and performance. We configure product analytics around events and metadata, not the prose inside your writing. We do not use writing content for targeted advertising.
You can accept or reject optional analytics through the consent control. Browser settings may also let you clear or block cookies, though blocking essential storage can prevent parts of Riikee from working.
11. Retention and Deletion
- Account and writing data are generally retained while your account is active or as needed to provide the Service
- Local guest drafts and recovery copies remain until the browser, Riikee, or you removes them
- When an ordinary current practice is deleted, it is removed from active writing views
- When a historical practice is deleted, Riikee removes its title and body but may retain a tombstone with dates, deletion time, and limited word-count activity so past statistics and streak results remain stable
- Writing Session, achievement, badge, and personal-record data are generally retained with your account so Writing Journey remains consistent; limited session or aggregate history may remain after an individual practice is deleted when it does not contain the deleted title or body
- Writing-state, deliberate-break, recall, and 14-day guide records are generally retained with your account to preserve guidance progress and prevent repeated or mistimed prompts; guide records contain progress and session references rather than a separate copy of article text
- Writing images stored by Riikee are generally retained while they are referenced by a practice or otherwise needed to provide the Service. Removing an image from a saved practice, or deleting that practice, removes the active reference and makes the image eligible for scheduled deletion after a short recovery and consistency window, normally seven days
- Incomplete or interrupted image uploads are normally removed after 24 hours. Cleanup timing can vary because of retries, service availability, security investigations, or backup and provider processes
- AI article-analysis results are retained with the related writing until that writing or account is deleted, or the analysis is replaced
- Security, billing, transaction, usage, and audit records may be retained for fraud prevention, accounting, dispute resolution, and legal compliance
- Backups and provider systems may retain deleted data for a limited period before scheduled removal
Account deletion begins removal of account content from active systems. Some limited records may remain where required by law, needed to protect the Service, preserved in time-limited backups, or retained as de-identified or aggregated information that no longer identifies you.
12. Security
We use reasonable technical and organizational safeguards appropriate to the nature of the Service, including encrypted network connections, managed access controls, authentication, and trusted infrastructure providers. No system is perfectly secure, and we cannot guarantee that loss, misuse, or unauthorized access will never occur.
Protect your account with a strong unique password, keep recovery methods current, and export important writing regularly. Contact us promptly if you believe your account has been compromised.
13. International Data Transfers
Riikee and its providers may process information in countries other than your own. Where required, we use appropriate contractual or legal safeguards for international transfers. Privacy protections and government-access laws can differ by country.
14. Your Choices and Privacy Rights
Depending on where you live, you may have rights to access, correct, delete, restrict, or object to processing; receive a portable copy; withdraw consent; or appeal a decision about a privacy request.
- Update account, language, time zone, writing, reminder, communication, and AI settings in the Service
- Pause or resume optional writing guidance and review the status of the 14-day writing guide in Writing settings
- Review available Writing Session, achievement, and Writing Portrait information in Writing Journey
- Review image storage use in Subscription settings and remove stored images from your practices
- Turn off automatic article analysis and optional reminders
- Reject optional analytics through the consent control
- Export available writing formats
- Delete individual practices or request account deletion
- Email customer@riikee.com to make a privacy request
We may need to verify your identity before completing a request. You may also have the right to complain to your local data-protection authority. We will not discriminate against you for exercising applicable privacy rights.
15. Children
Riikee is not directed to children under 13, or a higher minimum age where local law requires it. We do not knowingly collect personal information from a child who cannot legally consent. A parent or guardian who believes a child has provided information should contact us.
16. Changes to This Policy
We may update this Policy to reflect changes to Riikee, providers, or law. We will change the date above and provide additional notice when required. The current version will remain available at riikee.com/privacy.
